Both personal and employment experience provide the history for any successful business.

Sandra Dawson, the founder of Dawson Real Estate, was the eldest child in a large family, in a city South of Boston. Being the oldest she had responsibility at an early age. The responsibility and leadership skills she developed were apparent both in high school and nursing school, where she was elected to class President. As a Registered Nurse in the Boston area and later after a move to New Bedford with her husband, Kevin, she was promoted to head nursing positions very quickly.

When their three children entered school, Sandra looked to continue in the workplace. At that time, hospitals did not provide “per diem” opportunities and since Sandra and her husband had bought several investment properties, she decided to take the real estate exam, in order to provide competent knowledge of landlord responsibilities. She was soon hired by a local practitioner and started on a part time real estate career.

With the sudden death of her mentor, Sandra decided to open her own brokerage in 1978. Soon, experienced agents from other firms asked to join her. Throughout the years the company has grown, has affiliated with franchises and is currently Dawson Real Estate, an independent firm with an affiliation with Boston-based Realty Guild, an association of over 50 independent real estate offices with over 750 agents statewide.

While Sandra is still involved in selling real estate, two of her children have assumed the leadership of the firm. Both had other careers before joining Dawson Real Estate. Sandy Dawson Galavotti, her daughter, has been with the agency since 1998 and has a background in Finance & Investments. Sandy’s personality makes a great fit both for leading the other agents in the office and assisting her own real estate clients. She has been a consistent Top Producer in her 20+ years with Dawson Real Estate. Sandra’s son, Patrick Dawson, has a prior background in Education & Government Service. He joined the firm in 2005 and now acts as the Marketing Manager as well as being a consistent Top Producer. His dependable & patient nature is an asset to his Buyer & Seller Clients.
